ABSTRACT & MIXED MEDIA PAINTINGS

I love creating pieces with texture and anything else that makes you want to touch and explore.  I use professional grade acrylics and mediums in my abstracts.  For mixed media pieces, it can include acrylics, ink, chalk, pastel, charcoal, torn paper, and other items in my studio that will add depth, interest, and texture.  

Macchiato - abstract painting

Macchiato is a heavily textured acrylic abstract on 30” x 40" x 1.5" museum quality gallery wrapped canvas.  The colors are espresso, chocolate and cream.  The highlighted texture gives the art depth and interest and reminded me of macchiato or espresso!  It is signed on the front and back. Black & White III - ABSTRACT PAINTING

Black & White III is an abstract inspired by one of my favorite artists and time periods - Franz Kline and the avant-garde movement. This piece is heavily textured and the background has little tiny squares that are randomly highlighted.  The dark black brushstrokes sit off the background by almost 1/8 inch.  The painting is on 30” x 40” x 1.5" museum-grade gallery wrapped canvas.  The sides continue with the black and white so framing is optional.  It is wired and ready to hang.   $1,600. Joubutsu - mixed media painting

Joubutsu is an Asian inspired mixed-media abstract painting on 20” x 20” x 1.5” museum quality gallery wrapped canvas.  There are torn papers -  some with Japanese kanji characters on them. Joubutsu means “go to heaven” or “entering nirvana”.  Part of the larger Japanese kanji symbol means heaven.  The sides are painted black so framing is optional.  It is wired and ready to hang.  SOLD

Dark Moment - mixed media painting

Dark Moment is a mixed media abstract with an Asian influence. There are richly blended colors of red, black, brown and bronze on a square 24" x 24" x 1.5" museum quality gallery wrapped canvas.  I created this piece at a time when I had received some very bad news - thus the title, "Dark Moment" (But everything turned out ok!).  I think the emotion I was feeling came out when I created this piece.  The light areas have old Japanese newsprint and you can see the Japanese characters.  The piece also includes Japanese washi paper and other found items.  The sides are painted black, so framing is optional.  The art is wired and ready to hang.  $500 - SOLD

Solitude - Framed - mixed media painting

Solitude is an Asian inspired mixed-media/collage on 22” x 28” museum quality canvas in a contemporary black floating frame (framed dimensions are 23.5" x 29.5").   Solitude was inspired by my many trips to Japan and seeing the women walking in the rain on quiet mornings.  $2,850

A MOMENT IN TIME - ABSTRACT PAINTING

A Moment in Time is a light and airy abstract done in neutral colors - soft browns, whites, off-whites, and a very deep blue hue band across the painting.  It has been painted so it can be hung horizontally or vertically.  The painting is on 30” x 40” x 1.5" museum-grade gallery wrapped canvas and has two coats of varnish to help protect from dust and UV light.  The sides continue with the off-white so framing is optional.  It is wired and ready to hang.  I added a couple photos that show what the painting could look like if framed – it is sold unframed.  The painting will come with a Certificate of Authenticity.  $1,600.
